Happy Pretzel Power Monday! Today, we’re feeling recharged by an entire weekend filled with Pretzels with a Purpose events.
We kicked off the weekend on Friday by donating lunch to the courageous Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, families and patients of the Cardiac Transplant Transition Team at Children’s Memorial Hospital. We fueled these dedicated hospital staffers with Turkey Sandwiches, Salad, Pretzel Dogs, Pizza Pretzels and Lemonade from our new Kim & Scott’s Cafe Twist in Lincoln Park.
On Saturday, the Race for the Kids at Soldier Field to support Children’s Memorial Hospital was AMAZING! We were swamped with crowds, lines of people for hours who enjoyed our fresh baked apple cinnamon bites. Kim and Scott’s oldest daughter, Sonia (aged 10), led pretzel twisting for the kids and it was a huge success! The event was a hopeful, moving event where so many families, friends, and supporters of the hospital came together to raise funds. There were teams of families and friends walking in honor and in memory of children who have faced serious and often terminal illnesses.
“As the mom of 3 young kids, I’m in awe of all that Children’s Memorial Hospital does to help kids and families during some very difficult times. I hope our pretzels can bring joy to the kids, families, employees and supporters of CMH.” – Pretzel Mom Kim Holstein
Also on Saturday, we participated as a sponsor for the Charles Tillman Meijer Celebrity Gridiron Challenge held at York High School in Lake Zurich, IL. We were one of three food vendors and had a great day with all the Chicago Bears players, staff and even a few of our own employees’ kids who were able to attend and enjoy the beautiful day on the field.
To top off our Pretzels with a Purpose event-filled weekend, we took part in the annual Ricky Birdsong Memorial Race Against Hate at Long Field in Evanston, IL. The day started at 3am heating pretzel bites and setting up in time for the 6:30am event.
Wow, such an empowering way to jump-start a new week!
