Blackhawks Stanley Cup Mayor Wager

Last night, we had the honor of contributing to the Stanley Cup Finals Mayor Wager! But this time we didn’t just give Mayor Daley a case of pretzels to put on the line. We upped the ante for the finals and added on round-trip air fare for two Flyers fans to come to Chicago and taste our pretzels at Café Twist should the Blackhawks lose the cup to the Flyers.  For our sake and for the sake of all of us die-hard Chicago fans (who are suffering through yet another dismal baseball season), GO HAWKS GO!

A Twist on a Cafe Menu

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about our fabulous new Kim & Scott’s Café Twist in Lincoln Park, Chicago. We’ve only been open for 1 week and are overwhelmed by all the love and support.  Wondering what kind of TWISTED fare you’ll find at Chicago’s hottest bakery/cafe?  Everything from pretzel knots with your choice of gourmet dips to salads with pretzel croutons to a twisted flight of pretzels.  Check out the full menu here>>, or swing by the cafe at 2218 N Lincoln Avenue (a block down from Oz Park).

See you soon at the café!

Pretzel Dad’s Den: Go Nuts for Nuts!

Even though we produce nut-free products in a nut-free facility, we cannot ignore the positive benefit nuts can have on health, specifically cholesterol.  Pretzel Dad and resident health expert Scott brought this Reuters Health article to our attention, which highlights the link between how many nuts we consumer per day with lower cholesterol levels.  The article reads, “…eating an average of 67 grams (about 2.4 ounces) of nuts daily brought people’s total cholesterol levels down by 11 points (a 5 percent reduction); reduced their harmful LDL cholesterol levels by 10 points (a 7 percent drop); and shifted the ratio of total cholesterol or LDL cholesterol to “good” HDL cholesterol in a favorable direction. The benefits were seen both in people with normal cholesterol levels and those with high cholesterol.”  To translate, the more nuts you eat each day, the lower your cholesterol levels. Go nuts!
