Run to Remember

This Saturday Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels will be passing out free pretzel bites before the Run To Remember, an event put on by The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen heroes. The Foundation provides support and assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.  Look out for the Team Twist racers and others from the Kim & Scott’s crew who will be sharing the pretzel love with runners and race supporters.

About the Chicago Memorial Foundation:  543 Chicago Police officers have made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in the line and performance of duty. The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to the families of our fallen heroes. The event is held at Gold Star Families Park, which honors the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to the protection of the City of Chicago and its visitors.

See you bright and early tomorrow morning!

Working Out Equals Weight Loss? Uh!

excercise

In this week’s Pretzel Dad’s Den, Scott shared an article with us from the New York Times on the positive effects excercise has on body weight.  Sounds simple enough right?  Well, new information is throwing the simplicity of this notion for a loop.  The article states that while many gym-goers hit the treadmill to shed unwanted pounds, “without significantly changing their diets, few succeed.”  Sorry ladies, but we seem to have an additional hurdle to overcome in the battle against the bulge.  A study conducted by the Pennington Biomedical Research Center shows that excercise actually increased appetite for women and hence caloric intake.  Read the entire article HERE and get active!

Twisted Review by Allergy Sense

Allergy SenseWe’re very proud of our all natural soft pretzels and not just because they lack any preservatives, trans fats or hydrogenated oils, but also because they’re baked in a peanut free and nut free facility.  That’s how we caught the eye of Allergy Sense, a site devoted to help make living with food allergies easier for families.  They recently had the opportunity to sit down with our VP of Communications/Creative/Culture, Monique, to chat about everything from our humble beginnings to Pretzel Power to our new Cafe Twist (opening soon in Lincoln Park, Chicago).  Read the full article HERE.
