Traveling Twist ‘N Top! …for grown-ups?

This past Saturday, we had the opportunity to host a one-of-a-kind event. A Traveling Twist ‘N Top with adults! We’re always donating different items for charity organizations and a group of young adults supported their local charity by purchasing our Twist ‘N Top party at a silent auction. Normally, we host our Twist ‘N Top parties for groups of young children but this group was definitely still young at heart. With much enthusiasm, they twisted, painted, and decorated their very own pretzels. They insisted that they still don the chef hat and apron for the full experience. I must admit, some of the pretzels came out looking pretty good! Their inspired creations tasted delicious too. Here’s to hoping this isn’t the last group of adults who want to express that they’re kids at heart.

Remember when the world turned off its lights last year to raise awareness about global warming and the need for energy efficiency? Earth Hour‘s back again and all of us at Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels are having lots of fun supporting it!

On Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 p.m., the World Wildlife Fund calls for you to turn off your lights for 1 hour “to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.”

Now, it might seem like turning off the lights won’t really do anything. But as a symbolic action, it goes a pretty long way. And as landmarks, businesses, retailers, restaurants, hotels, schools, museums, parks, theater marquees and households turned off their lights for one hour in 2008, the Chicagoland region reported an electricity savings of 7 percent – the carbon emissions equivalent of taking 1 million cars off the road for one hour or planting 158 acres of trees!

Many of the major cities in the world are signed up for participation–and the lights are even going out at major landmarks including the Sears Tower, Google’s homepage, Rome’s Coliseum, the Sydney Opera House and Coca-Cola’s billboard in Times Square. If nothing else, seeing the lights out at all of these places, as well as dark neighborhoods and dimmer skylines, will prompt a conversation–short and long. Even if a minority of the population gets something out of this, it’s a result that will have a great impact.

And you don’t just have to sit around the house with the lights off–though you can make that fun with a candlelight dinner! Visit the Earth Hour website to see how your city is participating. http://www.earthhour.org/home/

For added incentive to participate and make this fun, we are asking for fun photos of how you celebrated Earth Hour. We’ll be giving away some “Get Twisted” T-Shirts to our top photo posts (you can also email your photo to cust-serv@kimandscotts.com or post it on our Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels Facebook Fan Page). Get your cameras ready- and don’t forget the flash!

Want to get rid of all those old, antique cellular phones and accessories that are lying around? Send them to us and we will donate them to Cell Phones for Soldiers! As part of our Pretzels for Peace effort, we are thrilled to help a great cause.

Every phone you donate will help increase the amount of talk time for our troops overseas to their families!

Donated cell phones are sold to a company that recycles them. The money received from recycling cell phones is used to purchase calling cards that are sent to troops in need. Any cellular phone, batteries, chargers, accessories.

Thus far, AT&T has donated more than $500,000 worth of prepaid phone cards to Cell Phones for Soldiers!

We are at Natural Products Expo West and having a great time.  Kim & Scott’s daughter, Sonia, is shown here with Paula Abdul.  You never know who you’ll run into at these natural product events.  There’s so many people who look for natural products.  We’ve had many raving fans visit us at our booth, too.  Perhaps our naturally twisted products are on their way to be as famous as Paula!

If you’re at Natural Expo West this weekend, come visit Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels!  We have two new retail flavors we’re introducing, including Cheddar Jalapeno, and new to the breakfast line, Cream Cheese.  And of course, they are all natural and delicious!
